2 cases filed against Hasina, Shahriar and 343 others in Rajshahi
Two cases have been filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam, among 345 others, in Rajshahi district on Tuesday (August 27).
District Coordinator of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Shalauddin Ahmed Shamim Sarker and JCD worker Zahid Hassan filed the two cases with Bagha Police Station mentioning the names of 165 people.
In his case, Shalauddin Sarker mentioned the names of 24 persons, including Sheikh Hasina and Shahriar Alam, and 20-30 others as unnamed.
In his petition, he pointed out that a group of leaders and workers of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) forcibly took him to an unknown place from Bagha New Bus Stand area at gunpoint at the direction of Sheikh Hasina and Shahriar on May 21, 2023.
Later, they beat him mercilessly along with giving him electric shocks repeatedly. He was sent to court after a weeklong torture and filing false cases against him.
On the other hand, Zahid Hassan mentioned that the AL leaders and workers armed with firearms and lethal weapons attacked his business shop and set it on fire at Kishorepur Bazar under the same upazila on August 25, 2023.
In his case, he mentioned the names of 141 people, Sheikh Hasina and Shahriar, and 100-150 others as unnamed.
Bagha Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Abu Bakker Siddique, said they recorded the two cases separately. He added that necessary steps will be taken in this regard.
