5 shot as Islami Bank head office attacked
At least five people have sustained bullet injuries when miscreants opened fire during a protest in front of the head office of Islami Bank PLC in the capital’s Motijheel on Sunday (August 11).
The incident took place in Dilkusha, located in the Motijheel area of Dhaka around 10:30 am.
The injured have been identified as bank employees Shafiullah Sarder, Mamun, Abdur Rahman, and Baki Billah. The identity of another injured could not be known.
According to witnesses, some officials took position in front of the Islami Bank tower in the morning. They started protest against the unsecured, irregular loan scam, bank robbers and looters. Suddenly, more than one hundred people, including some officials of S Alam Group, equipped with arms, tried to enter the bank.
When they were barred from entering, they opened fire, leaving five people of the Islami Bank injured by bullet.
Later, the attackers fled the scene.
