Arrest of BNP leader’s killers demanded in Noakhali

Local people formed a human chain at Char Elahi Bazar in Char Elahi Union of Companiganj Upazila in the district on Tuesday morning to demand the arrest of and punishment for the killers of Char Elahi Union BNP president and former UP chairman Abdul Matin Tota.
Former Char Elahi Union BNP general secretary Abul Khair Master and the deceased’s sons and Jubo Dal leaders Ibrahim Tota and Ismail Tota spoke at the programme.
The speakers said, “The deceased Chairman Tota was a public representative for a long time. He was brutally hacked to death. Although a case has been filed in this incident, no accused has been arrested yet. We will besiege Companiganj Police Station and Noakhali DC office if the killers are not arrested within the next 48 hours.”
It is to be noted that last August 27, at 9:30 pm in Char Elahi Bazar, with the connivance of former Char Elahi Union BNP president Ismail Hossain, former general secretary Sahab Uddin, current General Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Member, former Char Elahi Union Chhatra Dal president Omar Farooq and UP Chairman and Union Awami League General Secretary Abdur Razzak, a group of miscreants brutally hacked and injured BNP leader Abdul Matin Tota. He was first admitted to Noakhali General Hospital and later to Dhanmondi Popular Hospital in Dhaka where he died last August 30 at 3:30 pm while undergoing treatment.
