Begum Khaleda Zia released
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has been released on Tuesday (August 6) afternoon.
The matter was informed in a notification sent by the Press Wing of the President's Office on Tuesday afternoon.
The notice said that the National Parliament was dissolved following the meeting of President Mohammed Sahabuddin with three army chiefs, leaders of various political parties, representatives of civil society and leaders of anti-discrimination students' movement.
The notice also said that along with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, detainees in various cases from July 1 to August 5 have already been released.
Khaleda Zia had been in jail since February 8, 2018, after being convicted in two graft cases during the Awami League regime.
Meanwhile, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in a press conference after the emergency meeting at the BNP Chairperson's political office that you know Begum Khaleda Zia is very ill. She will appear in public whenever she feels fit. We met her last night.
