Case appealed against ex-IGP, DB Harun among 16 officials

BNP appealed A case (FIR) against 16 police officers including former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and former Detective Branch (DB) chief Harun-or-Rashid.

“A BNP team went to Paltan police station to file a case,” confirmed BNP Chairperson’s press wing member Shamsuddin Didar on Wednesday (August 14). 


Former police officer Salah Uddin Khan made an FIR of the case as the plaintiff. 


Salah Uddin Khan is currently looking after various police and case-related aspects of BNP.  


It is learned that two cases have been appealed with the Paltan police station on allegations of harassment including drama of looting and recovery of weapons at BNP’s Paltan office in July 2022 and July 2024. 


Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, then DMP DB chief Harun-or-Rashid, and 16 officials on the charge of vandalism and looting including the drama of weapons recovery and explosives in the BNP office in Paltan in July this year.  


Salah Uddin Khan said that a team of BNP including him is at the police station. “We have appealed to file two separate cases in Paltan police station. Thana police authorities are in contact with the senior officer,” he mentioned.
