Chief Adviser Greets Hindu Community for Durga Puja
Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus today greeted all Hindu citizens of the country on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community, beginning tomorrow.
"On the occasion of Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Hindu community, I extend my heartiest greetings to all the Hindu citizens of the country," he said in a message on the eve of the day. Durga Puja is not only a festival of the Hindu community rather it has now become a universal festival, he said.
Dr Yunus said destruction of evil forces and worship of truth and beauty are the main features of the Sharadiyo Durgotsab (the annual five-day Sharadiyo Durgotsab. Noting that Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony, he said, "Our constitution guarantees equal rights to people of all religions and castes."
"This country belongs to all of us. This country is a safe abode for all people irrespective of caste and religion," he added. The interim government formed by the unprecedented uprising of students-workers-masses on August 5 is working to improve the fate of all and ensure equal rights regardless of caste-religion-group, said Dr Yunus.
The chief adviser called upon all to be imbued with the anti-discrimination spirit, keep the bonds of communal harmony intact and build a happy Bangladesh which will be free from hunger and poverty. He wished peace, welfare and prosperity to all the citizens of Bangladesh.
