Dhaka deny Metro a victory in NCL
Dhaka Division batters put a stubborn batting show to deny Dhaka Metro a victory in the fourth round game of the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) today at Sylhet Academy Ground. Resuming the final day at 186-6 and 175 runs ahead, Metro were bowled out for 267 and set Dhaka a 257-run for victory.
Dhaka lost wicket at regular intervals to stand on the brink of a defeat but somehow held the nerve to end the day at 148-8. Opener Ashiqur Rahman Shibli was the top-scorer with 34 while Taibur Rahman made 30.
Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan raised the prospect of Metro's victory with 4-38 while Abu Haider Rony snapped up 3-45. Put into bat first, Metro earlier were wrapped up for 304 in their first innings and conceded 11 runs lead, when Dhaka ended with 315 all out in its first innings.
