Field day on mushroom farming held in Faridpur

The District Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) conducted a field day at Kanaipur College Road in Kanaipur Union of Faridpur Sadar Upazila on Tuesday noon with 200 farmers of three upazilas of the district with the aim of improving nutrition and reducing poverty through the expansion of mushroom cultivation.
Faridpur Regional DAE Additional Director Md Manjurul Haque was present as the chief guest at the event while District DAE Deputy Director Md Shahaduzzaman chaired it.
At that time, Barishal Regional DAE Additional Director Rafiqul Islam, Faridpur Horticulture Center Deputy Director Jasim Uddin, Faridpur Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md Anwar Hossain along with Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers of the district were present.
The speakers at the field day said, “It is possible to fill the lack of nutrients by cultivating mushrooms. It is possible to reduce poverty in this area by cultivating mushrooms. To make mushroom cultivation more profitable, the DAE is providing quality seeds as well as training to farmers. We advise the farmers to keep in touch with the agriculture department.”
The speakers discussed about improving nutrition, reducing poverty, creating employment opportunities and reducing social problems caused by unemployment by increasing mushroom production and consumption.
