Flood hits 8 districts; 29 lakh affected, two dead
As many as 29 lakh people have been affected and two persons have died as flood has hit eight districts due to onrush of upstream water and nonstop rain over the last few days.
KM Ali Reza, additional secretary, disaster management and relief ministry, said this at a press conference at the Secretariat on Thursday (August 22).
The flood-hit districts are Feni, Cumilla, Chattogram, Khagrachhari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Brahmanbaria. A total of 4,40,840 families have been marooned.
A total of 1534 shelter centers have been opened. 75668 people and 7459 cattle have been given shelter there.
