Full probe into BDR carnage to start soon: Home Affairs Adviser
Home Affairs Adviser to the interim government Lt. Gen. (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said full investigation into the BDR (now BGB) carnage will commence very soon.
He said this while talking to reporters at his Secretariat office on Monday (September 2).
“The current government is committed to upholding the rights of the people by ensuring good governance and establishing justice. Not only as a Home Affairs Adviser, but also as a common citizen and former member of the Bangladesh Army, I want justice for the BDR killings. Full investigation into and fair trial for the BDR killings will commence shortly,” Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said.
Various organisations and family members of the deceased army personnel demanded the re-investigation into the BDR killings after the fall of the Awami League government.
On 25-26 February 2009, a mutiny in the then Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) left 74 people, including 57 army officers, murdered at the Pilkhana Headquarters.
