Govt adjusts soybean oil price with int’l market
The government has adjusted the prices of both bottled and loose soybean oil with international market by increasing Taka 8 per litre, setting the retail price of bottled soybean oil at Taka 175 per litre. The price of loose soybean oil has been fixed at Taka 157 per litre and the price of 5-litre bottled soybean oil has been fixed at Taka 852 per bottle The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Ministry of Commerce today with the new prices taking effect immediately.
After a meeting with edible oil traders, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin said the price of oil in the international market has increased by 20 percent. "Considering the overall situation, a realistic analysis was done, and the new price has been set accordingly," he added.
President of the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vegetable Manufacturers Association (BVORVMA) Mostafa Haider said it was essential to adjust the prices with as the prices of soybean oil in the international market have already been increased.
