HSC; Lawyer appointed for arrested examinees
The Ministry of Education has appointed lawyers for the HSC and equivalent candidates who are in police custody due to the situation surrounding the Quota Reform Movement.
Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education MA Khayer informed this in a circular on Thursday (August 1).
The notification mentions that as per the information received so far in the ongoing situation, the Ministry of Education has “appointed a lawyer to provide legal assistance to the three HSC examinees who are in police custody”.
Earlier on Wednesday night, HSC candidates from at least 19 colleges including Notre Dame College, Begum Badrunnessa Mohila College, Dhaka Residential Model College, and Dhaka College announced not to take part in the examination on social media.
They demand that “they will not sit for the examination until the arrested HSC examinees and general students are released”.
However, it could not be ascertained whether all students agreed with these statements or declarations. In view of this, today the Ministry of Education announced to provide legal assistance to the arrested HSC examinees.
Meanwhile, all the ongoing HSC and equivalent examinations have been postponed. The Inter-Education Board Coordinating Committee has also said that the suspended examinations will start from August 11 in the new schedule.
