I want to develop Palang Zajira as a model: Lt Col (Retd) Syed Nazrul Islam

Lt. Col. (Retd) Syed Nazrul Islam Russel is the son of a noble Muslim Morol family of Zajira Upazila in Zajira Upazila of Shariatpur District. His father late AK Safiuddin Ahmed (Sofi Morol) was a renowned teacher and social worker. His mother Mumtaz Begum retired from the Social Services Department.
He passed SSC with highest marks from Zajira Mohr Ali High School in 1992 and passed HSC with honors from Government Science College and graduated from Bangladesh Military Academy. Later he obtained MBA from Southeast University and Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI) degree from Bangladesh Army Aviation School.
After joining the army in 1998, he completed commando and helicopter pilot training. He received the national award PPM Padak for bravery in various missions. He retired from the army in 2018.
Lt Col (Retd) Syed Nazrul Islam is currently the Managing Director of Nasas Marketing Ltd. After retiring from the army in 2018, he is working with reputation in various business organizations. He is a dedicated social worker and founder president of Padma Club Limited.
Lt. Col. (retd) Nazrul Islam has also contributed a lot in social service. He is known as Colonel Nazrul in the area and is playing a leading role in social reform in Zajira and Palang upazilas of Shariatpur. He is the Chief Advisor of Anti-Drug Movement Society Shariatpur and Zajira Youth Welfare Foundation and is an Honorary Advisor of Zajira Press Club. Also President of Nuruzzaman Jame Masjid and Ideal Kindergarten.
He founded Nasas Marketing Ltd., Nasas Auto Rice Mill Ltd. and Nasas Aviation Ltd. on his own initiative. He is also involved in various businesses including property buying and selling, transportation, scrap business and international aviation training.
In family life, he is father of one son and one daughter. Happy family with wife Shayla Sarmin and son. Boys and girls are currently studying in Dhaka Cantonment.
Syed Nazrul Islam has devoted himself to the welfare of the society and the country during his retirement as in his career. He is well known as a spokesperson for the people of Zajira. His only goal is to spend the rest of his life involving himself in public service and make Palang Zajira a model.
