India shows inhumanity by opening dam: Adviser Nahid

Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology (ICT) and Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Nahid Islam today said that India has shown inhumanity by opening the dam without warning. They are not cooperating with Bangladesh in dealing with the disaster.

He said these at the briefing after the meeting of advisers chaired by the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Thursday (August 22).

“Students and people of Bangladesh are angry with India’s policies. The people of Bangladesh have been agitating and speaking for a ‘fair share of water’ for a long time,” said Nahid Islam.

“We hope that there is no strain in the Bangladesh-India relationship. Bangladesh-India relations should be replaced based on fairness.”

Calling on the two countries to work together to protect the people from disasters, the Adviser said that the “people of both Bangladesh and India should find a way to protect each other from such natural disasters”. The government is trying to rescue the flood-affected people more efficiently with the armed forces and related parties.
