Introduction of Jute Bags Helps Increase Jute Price: Sakhawat
Textiles and Jute Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain has said that the price of jute has increased due to the initiative of introducing jute bags in the country. "Many jute fabrics are being produced in the country. An initiative has been taken to create jute exhibition corner in Bangladesh missions abroad to help promote the country's jute products," he said.
The adviser made the remarks while speaking at the grand finale of Textile Talent Hunt Season 8 titled ‘Textiles Innovation Award-2024’ at a city hotel in the capital on Saturday as the chief guest, according to a press release issued here today. Later, he handed over the trophies to the winners.
A project to set up a separate research institute is being prepared for conducting more research in textiles and jute, said Sakhawat. He said that many people do not get jobs because of weakness in English language and suggested taking steps to increase employment in the country by increasing language skills through the use of language institutes," he added.
With Pro Vice-Chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan in the chair, the progrmme was attended, among others, by Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) President Mohammad Hatem and Bangladesh Textiles Mills Association (BTMA) President Showkat Aziz Russell.
