JCD files case against BCL leaders

An attempt to murder case was filed with a Dhaka court against 66 individuals, including Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Saddam Hossain, on charge of attacking the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders in 2022.

Chhatra Dal joint general secretary Ariful Islam filed the complaint with Metropolitan Magistrate Akhteruzzaman on Thursday (September 26). After recording the statement of the complainant, the court asked Shahbagh Police Station to register the complaint as the First Information Report (FIR).

The other key accused in the case are: Dhaka University’s former proctor Golam Rabbani, former president of Chhatra League Al Nahian Khan Joy, its former general secretary Lekhok Bhattacharjee, BCL former leaders- Sanjid Chandra Das, Riazul Islam, Monem Shahriar Hasan Moon, Samiuzzaman Sami, Asif Hossain, Rehanul Lovely, Sabbir Hossain, Ariful Islam Arif, Ohidul Islam Akash, Badhan Mia, Azizul Huq, Obaidul Hossain and Solaiman Habib.

According to the case details, the then newly formed Sohel-Arif JCD committee members came under attack in front of Sir F Rahman Hall of the Dhaka University (DU) on September 27 in 2022 allegedly by BCL men while they were going to meet the then DU VC. Several Chhatra Dal leaders, including the complainant Ariful Islam, were injured in the attack.
