Mustafa Monwar, Bangladesh’s renowned veteran painter and theater personality, is seriously ill. He was admitted to Square Hospital in the capital last Wednesday afternoon. Later, as his condition deteriorated, he was placed on life support on Saturday afternoon.
Confirming this on Sunday (September 8) night, Md. Rubel Mia, a personal assistant of Mustafa Monwar, said, “Sir’s condition is very bad. I urge all to pray for him.”
It is learned that the country’s renowned painter Mustafa Monwar, known as the “Puppet Man of Bangladesh”, has been suffering from pneumonia and prostate cancer for a long time. He was brought home last May after treatment from India. He was then given radiation therapy.
Rubel Mia said that Mustafa Monwar went to Delhi, India for treatment a few days ago. After being treated for prostate cancer from there, he returned home and was healthy. “He was hospitalized in Square Hospital when he collapsed at home on Wednesday afternoon,” he added.
