Manna calls for unity to foil conspiracies
Nagorik Oikkyo President Mahmudur Rahman Manna here today said all should be united to foil all conspiracies of the autocratic forces. "We did not want only the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. We want reforms in all sectors, including election system, police and judiciary. We want to hold the 13th parliamentary elections for establishing good governance," he said.
He was addressing as the chief guest the bi-annual conference of Khulna City and District Units of Nagorik Oikkya at the Umesh Chandra Public Library Auditorium here. Lauding the anti-discrimination students who led the mass movement to oust Sheikh Hasina, he said, "We should sustain our unity to resist conspiracies of Hasina."
Convener of City Unit Nagorik Oikkyo Dr Md Zakir Hossain presided over the meeting while central General Secretary Shahidullah Kaiser addressed as the main speaker and central office secretary S M Mohiduzzaman as special guest. Among others, District Unit Convener of Nagorik Oikkyo Abdul Mazid Howlader also addressed the conference.
Manna announced the new city and district unit committees. He later offered special prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Sheikh Sakib Raihan, a martyr of anti-discrimination student movement, at Basupara graveyard in the city.
