Nat’l tree plantation campaign begins in Khagrachhari

A week-long national tree plantation campaign and tree fair has been inaugurated in the district.
On this occasion, the district administration and the Department of Forest (DoF) organized a rally on Thursday morning. At the end of the rally, State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP, inaugurated the campaign and the fair by flying balloons.
Later, Minister Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP, spoke as the chief guest at the discussion meeting and Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner Md Sahiduzzaman was in the chair. Khagrachhari Divisional Forest Officer Md Farid Mia gave the welcome speech while District Superintendent of Police Mukta Dhar, PPM (Bar), Khagrachhari Municipality Mayor Nirmalendu Chowdhury and Khagrachhari Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Didarul Alam spoke as the special guests.
In his speech, the State Minister Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP, said, “Trees not only enhance the natural beauty but also prevent soil erosion and floods. The role of trees in climate controlling is immense. I urge the country's population, especially the present generation, to come forward to preserve the environment and biodiversity.”
After the meeting, the chief guest gave saplings to the students of various educational institutions of the district.
