National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Chairman Prof Farhadul Islam said the recent reports published or aired by different media claiming that the new education curriculum has been scrapped, are untrue.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Prof Islam added, “A television channel is broadcasted a news stating that the new curriculum has been suspended. This is not correct. Only a workshop on the curriculum has been cancelled.

“They are spreading this news as curriculum cancellation. It is not accurate.”

He then pointed out, “The NCTB does not have the jurisdiction to scrap the curriculum, as this is a policy decision by the government. This curriculum was implemented by government decision, and government decision is a must to suspend it.”

The new curriculum’s implementation began from 2022, and it was implemented in all classes from the current year. From the very beginning, this curriculum garnered a lot of criticism, with many parents seeking its cancellation.
