Nurun Nahar made to act as Bangladesh Bank governor
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Nurun Nahar will act as the governor of the central bank from now on.
A notification signed by Afsana Bilkis, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department confirmed the matter on Sunday (August 11).
According to the notice, Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder submitted his resignation for personal reasons on Friday (August 9) afternoon to Secretary Abdur Rahman Khan. With the governor's position vacant, Nurun Nahar will now oversee the daily operations of the bank.
Earlier, Nurun Nahar joined as the deputy governor on 2 July 2023. Prior that, she was Senior Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank. She joined Bangladesh Bank in 1989 as assistant director.
