“One of the 4-point programmes of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is social reforms and service. As a part of this, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami stands by the people in the country regardless of party, religion and caste and during any suffering or calamity,” said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council Member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Amir Md Nurul Islam Bulbul as the chief guest on the school ground adjacent to Burichang Upazila Parishad in the district while distributing gifts to the flood-hit people on Monday afternoon.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Cumilla District Naibe Amir Prof Alamgir Hossain Sarkar chaired the programme while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Working Council Member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Secretary Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, Central Majlise Shura Member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Assistant Secretary Md Delawar Hossain were the special guests.

Amon others, Cumilla District North Unit Amir Prof Abdul Matin, Dhaka Metropolitan South Working Council Member Dr Mubarak Hossain, Burichang-Brahmanpara Development Forum Chairman Saiful Islam Shahid, former vice-chairman and District Jamaat Secretary Professor Abdul Awal, District Working Council Member Prof Giasuddin, Bangladesh Sramik Kallyan Federation District President Abdul Alim, District Chhatra Shibir President Mizanur Rahman Atiqi, former Brahmanpara Upazila vice-chairman Prof Ohidur Rahman, Burichang Upazila Jamaat Amir Md Saiful Alam, Burichang Upazila former vice-chairman Md Rezaul Karim, Principal Abu Taher, and Chhatra Shibir President Muhibullah Suman also spoke.

Nurul Islam Bulbul said, “July revolution is one of the events in the history of Bangladesh. The Fascist Awami government has carried out genocide by using the maximum force of the state apparatus in the students' movement. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has stood by the side of the injured by providing financial support of Tk 2 lakh to the families of each of the martyrs. All the extrajudicial killings of the last 15 years of Awami League's rule, including this massacre, must be tried on Bangladesh soil.”

In the event, Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud said, “From now on Bangladesh will have to respond to every action of India that harms the interests of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami wants friendly relations with all neighboring countries. Those relations should be for mutual benefit, not in the interest of one side in any way.” At the end, various gifts including food items were distributed among the flood affected local people.
