Suspended Assistant Commissioner Urmi Summoned in Defamation Case
A court here today summoned Tapasi Tabassum Urmi, suspended assistant commissioner of Lalmonirhat, in a defamation case, asking her to appear before it on November 28. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order, accepting the defamation case filed against Urmi for allegedly making derogatory remarks about anti-discrimination movement martyr Abu Sayed and others.
Gono Adhikar Parishad higher council member Abu Hanif filed the case today. According to the case documents, the accused, despite being a government official, made a derogatory post about Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and martyrs of the anti-discrimination movement, on her Facebook account. She vehemently criticized the head of present government and threatened to topple it, the complainant added.
