UP chairman alleged of embezzling money in Shahrasti

Md Shahadat Hossain, son of Nurul Islam of Ward No. 7 of Raishri South Union Parishad, filed a written complaint with the Shahrasti Upazila Nirbahi Officer of the district on September 2, accusing Md Abdur Razzak, Raishri South UP chairman, of embezzling money.

Shahadat Hossain mentioned in the complaint that Raishri South UP Chairman Md Abdur Razzak allocated Tk 10 lakh out of the 1% allocation of the fiscal year 2022-2023 for the road pavement project from Meher Ali Munsi’s house to Ruhul Amin Doctor's house in Khila Village. After that, he finished the project work hurriedly by spending about Tk 1.5 lakh of the project. The quality of the work is not at all satisfactory and UP Chairman Md Abdur Razzak embezzled about Tk 8.50 lakh from the said project. Most of the people in the area know this.

“In addition, the chairman embezzled more than crore taka in many other projects, which resembles looting of state resources and which is a punishable offence. In this situation, I demand necessary action against the chairman on an urgent basis subject to investigation,” said the complainant.

It is to be noted that the local people have raised several other allegations of irregularities and corruption against Raishri South Union Awami League General Secretary Md Abdur Razzak. They sought the intervention of the concerned authorities to take appropriate action against him subject to investigation of all these allegations.
