Youths’ dreams must be harnessed in flood tackle: Chief Adviser
The Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus today said that the youths that have shown us the dream should be harnessed in flood control and post-flood rehabilitation. NGOs are the strength of Bangladesh. You can do it.
He said this in a meeting with 44 local and small Bangladesh NGOs at the state residence and office Jamuna on Saturday (August 24).
After the meeting, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Islam said that representatives of small, medium, large, and local 44 NGOs had a two-hour lively meeting with the Chief Adviser. He talked about dealing with the flood situation, what to do next, and working in coordination with them on the progress of Bangladesh.
The Chief Adviser held a meeting on post-flood issues, particularly water-borne diseases, health risks, and how to work together in integrated initiatives on food and rehabilitation systems, said Shafiqul Islam.
In the meeting, the Chief Adviser said that the people of Bangladesh are working to deal with floods in the same way as they worked in the mass-uprising. They are working to help the flood victims by raising relief in neighborhoods and villages. With the initiative and motivation of the youth, all the people of Bangladesh have joined together to fight the flood.
“NGOs have played a huge role in Bangladesh since the Liberation War. They work locally. We want to leverage their experience. If the students go to Parshuram with relief aid and see local NGOs working there, then the students will work in coordination with them,” said Dr. Yunus.
