Yunus, advisers pay tribute at Martyrs' Memorial, Shaheed Minar

The Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr Muhammad Yunus, along with other advisers, paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar on Friday morning.

Later, they honoured the heroes of the 1952 Language Movement at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.

Earlier, Dr Yunus laid wreaths at the memorial in honour of the Liberation War martyrs at around 10am amid heavy rain.

He then stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs.
A contingent comprising members of the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force presented a state salute during the ceremony, while bugles played the last post.

Later, Dr Yunus, joined by other advisers, laid another wreath in his capacity as the head of the government.

After signing the visitors' book, the group proceeded to the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.

At the Central Shaheed Minar, Prof Yunus and his advisory council arrived shortly after 11am.
 
Dr Yunus was the first to lay the wreath at the Shaheed Minar at 11:14am.

Later, Prof Yunus along with other advisers of the interim government placed another wreath at the Shaheed Minar.

They stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the language heroes.

The interim administration led by Nobel laureate Prof Yunus, was sworn in on Thursday night in the wake of the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government amid nationwide mass movement.
